Rolex Day-Date
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-date is a COSC (Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres, the Swiss Chronometer official testing institute) certified, self-winding chronometer wristwatch manufactured by Rolex. When it was introduced in 1956, Day-Date was the very first watch to display date and day on it. The Day-Date is exclusively offered in solid 18k white gold; 18k yellow gold, platinum and 18k rose gold. Rolex manufactures a unique bracelet only for Day-Date, the President bracelet. Additional discs and screw down back was added due to the complexity of the watch. The early Day-Date was a bit bulkier in appearance as it was waterproof up to 165 feet. However, Rolex modified its shape to a much slender form that is available and enjoyed today. Day Date model was soon replaced by Rolex’s 6611 model that was waterproof up to 100 feet. The Rolex earned the nickname the “President” when it was used by the United States President Dwight Eisenhower. The first prominent change was made to the watch in 1972 by adding hack feature. Quick set feature was introduced in late 70s and was added to all models of Rolex in 1983. This feature solved one of the biggest problems of watches. The user was able to pull the button out half way and change the date to the correct date with an exclusive function. The sapphire crystal was included that not only gave the watch more appealing appearance but also added to the durability. Double Quick Set watch model was introduced at the end of 1990 that made it easier to change the Day and Date independently from each other. Day Date was reintroduced in 2000 by Rolex in rose gold and domed sapphire mineral glass. Rolex Day Date is one of the most reputable Rolex watches available today.
